Río de la Plata is an estuary formed at the confluence of the Uruguay and Parana rivers. This is a bay on the southeastern coast of South America, stretching for 220 km from the confluence of rivers to the Atlantic Ocean. It is often called the "river", both on the Uruguayan and Argentine sides. However, outside these countries, it is referred to only as an "estuary" rather than a "river". Due to its maximum width, it would be the widest river in the world.
