Park Güell Barcelona

Park Güell is a privately owned park system consisting of gardens, architectural elements and landscapes located on Carmel Hill in Barcelona, Catalonia. Carmel Hill is part of the Collserola mountain range - the Parc del Carmel can be found on the northern side. Park Güell is found in La Salut in Barcelona's Gracia neighbourhood. Eusebi Guell had urbanization in mind and gave the design to Antoni Gaudi (a famous architect who is the face of Catalan modernism).

Park Guell

Guell Park was originally built between 1900 and 1914. It was officially opened as an open-air public park in 1926. Under the heading "Works of Antoni Gaudi", UNESCO designated the park a World Heritage Site in 1984.

Eusebi Güell, a wealthy count and entrepreneur who was passionate about Gaudi's works and became his patron, is the Park's name. The Gaudi Parc Guell was initially designed as a luxury residential compound. But, over time, this idea was dropped. Instead, Guell and Gaudi created a park that could be used to tell a fairy tale. Park Guell sometimes spelt like Parc Guell and Parque Guell too.

Parc Guell

Gaudi Park Guell, This green space is 17 hectares in size and features columns that look like animal figures, tree trunks, or trees, as well as rounded forms. The mosaics of colourful ceramic tiles are used to decorate many architectural elements. Inspired by nature, the architect decorated the park with beautiful structures that imitate natural forms. All the element's colourful and sinuous forms are influenced both by political symbolism and religious symbolism.

The artist used a slope of Carmel Hill of  60m to make a path of spiritual elevation. Gaudi had originally planned to build a chapel. However, the "Monumento al Calvario" was built. This promontory is at the highest point of Park Guell Gaudi, offering the best views of Barcelona. The Park's central square is large and has a bench that runs along the plaza. It measures 110m in length. Its shape is that of a long snake, and it is decorated with colourful mosaics.

Guell Park

Gaudi park Barcelona, The first work started in October 1900. The first step was to level the land in preparation for different property constructions. This was the first stage that was completed in 1903. The fence that surrounds the site was completed in 1903.

Antoni Gaudi developed several water collection and storage systems that would allow the vegetation to be irrigated and prevent soil erosion, which can occur during heavy rains. Antoni Gaudi and his aunt moved to Güell, California in 1906. Inspired by the Greek town of Delphi and with only 86 columns, the Hypostyle Hall (or Hall of a Hundred Columns) was built in 1907.

Parque Guell Barcelona, The work stopped completely after the 1914 outbreak of World War I and the subsequent difficulties with the sale of various properties. There were only two houses built at that time, one of which was Eusebi Guiell, who moved into his dream Gaudi park in 1907. The most significant problems in the housing development were brought to the area and its exclusivity. Eusebi Guell, despite the fact that there weren't any residents during those years, allowed civil and religious events to be held on the large square. This was generally well-received by Eusebi, the rest of the residents and Eusebi.

Eusebi was die in 1918. His heirs offered the parc Guell Gaudi for sale to the Barcelona City Council. This council agreed to purchase it in 1922. Park Gaudi was not officially opened as a municipal park before 1926. Since then, it has been the city's most significant and prominent Parc Guell Barcelona. This beloved Barcelona Park Guell is loved by Barcelonaans and gained international attention in 1984 when it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
