The Minaret of Jam stands in one of the most remote parts of Afghanistan. It rises 65 metres from a narrow valley in Ghor Province, close to the Hari River, surrounded by steep mountains. There are no large cities or modern buildings nearby, which makes the sight of such a tall medieval tower in this landscape particularly striking.
