Toyoni Lake is a secret gem found in the remote area of Erimo Town, Hokkaido, the second-largest island of Japan. It has become a tourist destination. The lush forest surrounds this freshwater lake, which would be stunning on its own. However, the lake's unique shape has earned it a reputation as a tourist attraction.
Heart-Shaped Lake in Japan
The lake's heart shape is clearly visible when viewed from the top. It becomes a bright blue heart, surrounded by red-orange or green leaves depending on the season. The lake came into the limelight after a TV commercial featured this lake in Japan. People realized that "Heart Lake" wasn't a Photoshopped illusion and they discovered that it was a real and in a natural formation. Soon folks began to visit and appreciate its peculiar appearance. Previously the lake was known as Kamuito, which means "A swamp where God lives."
