Castel Meur is also known as La Maison du Gouffre, which means "The house between the rocks." This building can hardly be called a castle, but sometimes it is called the Castle of Meur. It is a small house, sandwiched by two large fragments of rocks on the rocky coast of France.

The house between the rocks
The house between the rocks is located in the small village of Pointe de Plougrescant a town located in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region of northern France. The lodge is located 120 meters from the rocky coast of the English Channel. Many postcards of this house between the rocks have made it the emblem of Plougrescant. And as surprising as it may seem, a surprising name for this little house nestled between two giants!
It was built in 1861. In those days, no building permit was required. Therefore, people erected houses where it was convenient for them. The rear side of the house is the sea. On the sides are two huge granite boulders. This unusual decision is dictated by local conditions. The owner wanted to protect the house from strong storms and winds. And they are quite common in this area. In 2008, the element was so raging that it almost destroyed the house with powerful waves and tons of pebbles. But the house survived.
After the original owner's death, the house became the “country residence” of his children. In the summer they periodically stayed here but did not live permanently. Since 2004 the granddaughter of the first owner has been living in the house. She returned to her homeland after selling her business in the United States.

La Maison du Gouffre
Previously, any tourist could calmly walk up to the house and take a photo as a souvenir. It was the main attraction of the Plugrescan village. It was portrayed on postcards. Local officials were keen to develop tourism. The image of Mör Castle was to become the village's official business card. Tourists often visited these places. Moreover, they did not always behave culturally. One day, Japanese tourists climbed onto the roof for spectacular shots and damaged it. Naturally, the owners did not like it. They built a fence around their lot. Access to the building is now severely restricted.
Now you will not find postcards with this house either in the post office or in souvenir shops. The owners of the house have banned the commercial use of any of its images. All souvenirs depicting this attraction have been withdrawn from sale.
