Big Major Cay, also known as Pig Island, is a formerly uninhabited land located in Exuma, Bahamas. This famous tourist destination has such a unique name because this is the residence and living place of a herd of feral pigs. The special thing is that the pigs here can swim extremely skillfully like authentic fishers.

Pig Island or Pig Beach, also known as Pigs in Paradise, is another name for a small remote island with an area of 5.6 km extended, nearly 1 km wide. They are located in Exuma, about 65km from the Bahamas' capital Nassau. The unique thing is that the owners of this island are pigs, not humans. Therefore, pigs of small sizes, different coat colours live together freely on the island.
There is a strange thing that makes people wonder why a "swarm of pigs", an island surrounded by forests, appears here. No one knows the true origin of the pigs that lived on the island. Some say that they were abandoned by a group of sailors, perhaps planning to go pick them up later, but they never came, and pigs were abandoned. Others say that the pigs swam from a nearby shipwreck. They survived on excess food dropped from passing ships. But today the matter is different, and they get food according to taste from tourists.
These explanations may or may not be correct. But anyway, a herd of pigs appearing here is also an extraordinary thing. Although this island is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, captivating people with the charming wild beauty of the blue sea and incredibly romantic white sand, the pigs are the plus points that help attract many tourists. As a result, famous stars and tourists visit the Bahamas.

Living in a semi-wild environment, the pigs here are charming and friendly with humans. They spend most of their time in the sea looking for food and cooling their bodies. Whenever they see a guest's boat about to dock, the pigs rush to swim close to begging for food. Some spotted pigs also know how to listen to the command "sit down" to be rewarded with brilliant food.
Most visitors come here to serve salad, carrots or bread for the pigs. Many people also enjoy taking pictures and swimming in the clear blue water with them.
Pigs here are full of different sizes, from large to small. Although they are said to be wild animals, they are very bold with humans. For example, every time someone visits the beach, the pigs, even swimming, will run-up to the shore, surround them and snort to greet visitors.
