Sathorn Unique Tower: Bangkok Ghost Tower

The Sathorn Unique is a skyscraper with a 49-story unfinished building called "ghost tower". It was built during Thailand's economic boom of the 1990s and became a prominent addition to Bangkok's skyline. It is situated at the border of Charoen Krunga's old commercial district and the Silom-Sathorn international business area. It's considered to be the best spot to view Bangkok's magnificent cityscape and the tranquility of the Chao Praya River. This luxury residential skyscraper has over 659 homes and 54 shops. Construction work was stopped abruptly in 1997-98. The country's economy declined 10% in 1998. Many of the building projects were stopped, including this 49-story tower. While many towers are now complete and construction is still ongoing, many broke developers are unable or unwilling to take action. The tower is now abandoned and looks dreary. Locals believe it to be haunted.

Abandoned Building Bangkok

Sathorn Unique building, located in the heart of Bangkok's golden land, Thailand. It has a 49-story structure that includes 659 apartments and 54 shops. Built to be a luxury apartment complex for the wealthy, the "nail" of the land of the Golden Temple offers a stunning view of Chao Phraya.

The building was already 80% complete at the time of the withdrawal. Only the interior work will make it the most luxurious residential and commercial area in Thailand. It is now a reminder of a dream, an unfulfilled, extravagant, and ugly nightmare, but it will always be there in people's minds. Rumors began to circulate that the victims were eating at this building. Locals try to avoid the tower, calling it "Ghost Tower", as they believe the abandoned 49-story building is haunted.

Spooky stories

It encountered many difficulties during the construction of Sathorn Unique in the 1990s. Rangsan Torsuwan was a well-known architect and real estate, developer. He also designed the sister building, State Tower. Sathorn Unique Company Limited owns the project and it is partially funded by Thai Mex Securities and Finance Company. Construction started in the same year, with Si Phraya Company Limited acting as the principal contractor.

Although the building is currently not in use, tourists and explorers still visit the floors to enjoy the views of Bangkok and the Chao Praya River. The potential danger meant that the authorities refused to allow access to the building. The building was already 80% complete by the time construction was stopped. The original plan was to make it a high-end residential neighborhood and a shopping center. However, this never happened. The building is in a very rough state and has not yet been furnished with doors or furniture.
