Swedish artist Michael Johansson creates fascinating sculptures made from ordinary objects that induce the same internal Nintendo soundtrack. Using found objects such as books, luggage, and other everyday materials in tight geometric shapes is absolutely marvellous. Johansson produces structures that depict an almost perfect cube, textured throughout with various hues and materials. The artwork is packed between two buildings or piled into abandoned closets, archways, door jambs or windows; the artist carefully organised disused objects to fill out the spaces perfectly. The brilliant artwork presents the audience with recognisable objects in a new light, altering their meaning outside of their original quotidian context.
