The Eyes of God — Prohodna Cave, Bulgaria

Mankind has long learned to create beautiful things – we are building true architectural masterpieces, making exciting discoveries, and reaching unprecedented heights in the art. However, we do not match the witch Nature, because its creations still fascinate us with their complexity, beauty, and deep meaning. One of these signs is 112 km from the city of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and for many years has impressed people with a mystical aura – we are talking about an incredible cave, dubbed the "Eyes of God".

Prohodna is a karst cave Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near the village of Karlukovo in Lukovit Municipality, Lovech Province. The cave is known for the two eye-like holes in its ceiling, known as the Eyes of God or Oknata.

One of the most famous caves in Bulgaria is officially named "Checkpoint Prohodna Cave" and is located in the vicinity of the village of Karlukovo. Its main feature is that tourists notice right away – there are huge natural holes in the roof of the cave, resembling giant empty sockets.

Symmetry through the "window" always makes a lasting impression on visitors to the caves, and the locals call them the "eyes of the Lord. "If you look at it from a certain angle, you can really see the outlines of a person who seems to be watching all members. In rainy weather, "Eye of God" takes on an added resemblance to a human shape, because the flowing water over the holes is very similar to tears. Prohodna Cave is a natural rock bridge, measuring 262 metres in length. It has two entrances: Large and Small, and the heights of the arches are 45 m and 35 m, respectively. This is the highest cave in Bulgaria. Inside the cave is a paved trail for tourists, as well as sports routes of varying difficulty. This place adores extreme athletes who often train at the entrance to the bungee jumping.

The cave is always open to tourists, and you can visit it on your own, but it is still recommended to take a guide. It should be especially careful in the winter, when the inside becomes slippery, with the giant icicles hanging from the vaults. Not far from the attractions, this is also built as an interesting cave house for them. Peter Tranteeva, along with the "eyes of God", ranks among the most visited sites in Bulgaria.
