Rainbow Eucalyptus
While Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees have a reputation for their beautiful leaves and are the primary food source of koalas, they are also known for their colourful rainbow eucalyptus leaves. Eucalyptus Deglupta, also known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus, can be so vibrant that it's often called the rainbow eucalyptus. This tree almost looks like a sharpened pencil when it sheds its bark. It is a spectacular sight that will be remembered forever.
Eucalyptus Deglupta is an ever-growing tree. It can reach heights of 60-75 meters and has a trunk that measures 240cm in diameter, with buttresses as high as four meters. The smooth, orange-tinted bark sheds in strips and exposes green, red, orange, or grey streaks. The cross-section of the branchlets is roughly square, with narrow wings at the corners. The leaves are usually arranged in pairs of 75-150mm long and 50-75% wide on a shorter petiole. The flower buds are placed in a branching inflorescence at the leaf axils or on the ends of branchlets. Each branch has seven buds, and each bud is approximately 5mm long.
Colorful Tree
Rainbow trees — The mature buds are pale green to cream-coloured and roughly spherical, measuring 2-5mm in diameter. They also have a hemispherical operculum that has a small point at the top. The blooming time of the flower depends on location. The colour of the stamens, which give the flowers their colours, is white or pale yellow. The fruit is a hemispherical, woody brown capsule measuring 3-5mm in length and width. There are three to four valves that extend beyond the fruit's rim. Each cell contains three to twelve tiny brown seeds. The rainbow eucalyptus' inner bark first appears as it sheds. This inner bark will change over time into different colours, including blue, purple, orange and maroon. Because the tree doesn't clear all at once, the colourful striations result from this. Over time, the tree sheds layers slowly, and exposed areas begin to age.

Rainbow Eucalyptus Wood — The result is stunning, with the rainbow-colored eucalyptus appearing almost like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Because of its unique appearance, it is very popular with garden enthusiasts. It is found in many botanical gardens all over the globe. It is frequently planted in ornamental trees in Hawaii, Texas and Louisiana, where it can thrive in the warm, frost-free climate.
Rainbow eucalyptus can be found in both lowland and higher montane rainforests. However, it has been widely planted around the globe, mainly to make white paper pulpwood. This is the predominant species that is used in pulpwood plantations in the Philippines. E.deglupta can be planted as ornamental plants in frost-free zones like Hawaii, Texas and Florida. It is located in at most three locations in Los Angeles County. These include Santa Monica Botanical Garden, San Marino Botanical Garden, and Santa Monica. These trees still grew in 1988 but were relatively young.
