The African Renaissance monument, erected on a monolithic stone on the highest peak in Senegal's capital Dakar, symbolizes solidarity and the bright future of African countries after the European colonial period. Designed by Pierre Goudiaby, the monument stands 171 ft high. Sculptures, paintings, and objects, which reflect the cultural structure of Senegal as well as the brotherhood, are exhibited in the museum. The Senegal monument is the tallest bronze Dakar Senegal Statue in Africa and rises to face the Atlantic Ocean.

Renaissance statue — On April 3, 2010, the third president of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, inaugurated the monument (senegal monument de la renaissance) commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country's independence from France, with the participation of 15 presidents of African countries. The 52-meter-long monument, which weighs 7,000 tons, was built by the famous architect Pierre Gudabi at the request of President Wade to explain the liberation of Africa, particularly Senegal, from the yoke of Western countries.
