Bagger 288 is one of the most amazing machines ever made. This enormous German bucket-wheel excavator was designed for large-scale open-pit lignite mining and became famous for its incredible size. I am retired but I worked for a power company which had some excavators mining lignite (can barely be called coal) coal similar to this but they pale in size to this behemoth.
